CHALLENGE

At 68 years old and after a 27 year absence from performing rock music, Danny Elfman was attempting to re-invent himself before 10’s of thousands at the 2022 Coachella Festival.

The concert would be called ‘Big Mess’ and include a rock band, 40 symphony and choir musicians, intricate visuals and music videos.

Typically a legend returning to the stage tries to play their greatest hits and please the crowd looking to reclaim old glory. Danny was boldy looking to create something new and beyond expectation.

RESULTS

Danny Elfman’s ‘Big Mess’ got rave reviews and repositioned Danny in the public’s eye as continuing to be a vital and relevant creator and icon in music.

Petros worked on the initial phase of the Big Mess project, creative directing tour visuals and simultaneously began documenting the process. The documentary ‘Behind the Mess’ is a three part series, the first Part I was released with the Big Mess Deluxe Box Set.

Kick Me Music Video

Part of Danny’s art for his live performance was expressed through his muscular physicality and a new system of tattoos he completed in 2021. Petros created a conceptual performance video exploring themes of body dysmorphia and celebrity for ‘Kick Me’.
